pngout algo
- Good day!
Congratulations! You’ve done such a great job in pngout!
We’re doing our thesis in mobile application development involving video streaming and image capturing. Our program generates .PNG files and I was assigned for the png compression to save network costs. After performing some comparisons from other png compression utils, I found out pngout outdid its competitors. We plan to use it in our thesis however I can’t seem to find the algorithms you used (or the source code for that matter) of the pngout, do you plan to make it available online?
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this post... video streaming and image capturing. Our program generates .PNG files and I was assigned for the png compression to save network costs ... I can
I have not yet released the source code to PNGOUT. I want to hold onto it while I am still exploring opportunities. You can find some hints about my algorithms on these forums.
ok, thanks. i'll read the forum i think it's a way to start guessing algo ;)For most video streaming applications, you'll get much better quality per bandwidth if you use lossy compression. Also, if you were planning to use PNGOUT for real-time compression, don't. It's way too slow for that!
yup considered the speed too..i'm also testing some other compression but was hooked by the praises others gave to the pgout throughout the web ;
thanks for the reply!
